Hiking and gardening

After five years of migraines and neck pain I have finally gotten to a place where I am paint free 90 to 95 % of the time. I have found most of my triggers and luckily they are pretty easy to follow.  i can't drive more than a half an hour (which saves me money since the big stores like target, Walmart, the mall are all 1.5 hours away.   I cannot eat eggs or anything with eggs and I cannot work on a computer for more than 1/2 hour once or twice a day.   I also cannot be in the sun more than 5 hours and i have to wear a hat or visor! I have been able to slowly add activities back like long hikes and gardening.
This means the front yard is finally getting a makeover.  Daron has the back yard looking stellar he even edged the lawn.  I ran into my old neighbor and asked if we could use his tiller on the front yard.  He came by that morning and tilled the front yard! Woo Hoo.  Daron came home and was so inspired that he took the afternoon off of work and started raking and I bought a mulberry tree no fruit kind that Daron planted.  I dug up so many more weeds that my back hurts but it was well worth it.
Daron and Addy drove me to St. George to shop and eat for Mother's Day.  It was great.  It had been a week shy of 3 months since I went shopping. Addy could not wait to go to jumping jacks which is a bounce house only to find that it was closed for good.  I asked a lady in TJ Maxx and she knew of an adventure festival with bounce houses.  Shewww crisis averted.

Addy's First Art Show

As an ending to our 2014/2015 Kids Art Discovery we had an art show so the kids could showcase their work.  It was really neat to see them dress up and attending the opening night.  Many attended and Addyson and her friend Emma were thrilled when their teacher Mr. Willardson showed up. 
We were impressed that he came out on a Friday night after teaching all day and taking care of his horses. I just added a few photos to give you the feel of it.  I believe we framed and hung 30 pictures!

Updates Addy and Snakes

I am so happy to have seen a beautiful (gopher?) snake the other day on my hike.  It was about 3 feet long!  I didn't take the dogs because Opal is now blind due to cataracts caused by diabetes.  It stinks. She is trying to maneuver around but it is taking time.  She doesn't have glaucoma thankfully but we have to watch for signs of it.  It is really painful and will give them a constant headache.  I for one can relate so I will be vigilant in keeping an eye on her. 

Addy took the bus home with her friend McKenna.  I was totally freaking out worried about the bus on the highway since 95% of the time we don't exceed 35 miles an hour.  Breathe. She was excited to go and hasn't been to her house since before Christmas.  She goes through phases of wanting then not wanting to go to friends.  She went to Cedars house Sunday and Daron and I were at a complete loss as to what to do!

Addy has been enjoying the nice evenings and had chosen to eat her snacks and do her studying outside.  Here is the setup she created.  She is also working on a planting club and has written out steps to how to plant.  She aces most of her spelling tests and has done pretty well on this aside from desk.  It looks like she got it right at first except she had the d backwards and crossed it out.  She loves writing steps for how to do things.  She's  a teacher at heart.

It feels so good to be out hiking again! With long hikes and drive times it takes up most of the day Saturday so I haven't gone on many lately.  That is crazy! I am going as much as I can from now on.  Unfortunately, I did get a migraine after the hike and to the next day.  I drank plenty of water but what I finally realized was that I had some trail mix with various nuts.  So far pecans are the only ones that are safe and I believe walnuts are not.  I had cashews in the trail mix so I guess no more cashews.  The hike was awesome and it led us to the Colorado River and we saw people heading out on their 1 - 3 week river trips.
