Addyson met Soldier. Soldier holds a special place in our hearts. He was the first dog we met at doggie headquarters at Best Friends. He was found at a shooting range tied to a tree. We believe he was born with no left front leg and his right front leg is deformed. He is an extremely happy and spoiled dog. He was adopted by a lady who was a therapist for children and he came to the office with her to help calm the kids.
Addy participated in the I Read to Animals program that our department (Humane Ed) put on at the local library. Addy got to read to a dog, learn about dog safety, color a puppy dog and "adopt" a stuffed animal. She chose to adopt a rooster.

Daddy and Addy picked out some new outfits when we were in Page, AZ last week. OF COURSE he picked this out - recognize the basketball shorts!!
Every day when Daddy comes home from work he and Addy make a fort!

Pirate Addy - the library in Arizona ( 5 miles away) had a water themed camp. One day was pirate day. They made pirate ships, got tattoos, raced ships and played games.

Addy has been eating peanut butter and crackers for breakfast. Actually more peanut butter than crackers.

When I was little my Dad would take me to the local pond off of Emmett street across from the hospital. I would look for frogs and turtles. I absolutely LOVED it. Daron, Addy and I went to our local creek and did the same. Addy had a blast until a water bug bit her on the foot as we were heading back to the car. She was not happy and talked all afternoon about that darn bug. We found some little fish and baby frogs.

Addy and I were getting tired of the hot afternoons so we drove an hour to Duck Creek and Navajo Lake. It was at least ten degrees cooler there and we looked for fish and walked in the water. As we were walking in the water Addy exclaimed "I am so happy" it was awesome.

Addy's favorite chicken is Cayenne. She turnes over rocks and pieces of wood and Cayenne will eat the bugs that scurry out.

Today our cat was meowing and meowing. Addy said to me "Bindi is talking up a storm." Where in the world did she hear that phrase?


The other day, Addy and I were in the kitchen and Addy said "Mommy come in my room." I did and we traced our body outline on a huge piece of paper. You know how you did that in Kindergarten - kind of like making a big paper doll. Anyway, Addy started coloring on the back of a wooden puzzle that was holding down the edge of the paper. I thought that was fine because it was the back of the puzzle and when I was a kid I colored the underside of our coffee table. Then Addy turned the puzzle right side up. I looked at her and said "You can't color on the front of the puzzle." She looked at me and a minute or so later (I could see the wheels turning) said "Mommy go away."



Lately, my migraines have been rearing their ugly head again. I seem to be getting them monthly and I believe it is hormonal. Oh Joy! Anyhow, after a two day migraine I said to Addy "I am sorry Mommy has had a headache" and Addy looked and me and replied "Sometimes that happens." Alrighty then!



The other day Addy, Daddy and I went over to a friends house to feed their foster kittens. Knowing full well that kittens have claws we were trying to keep her from getting scratched. Needless to say she got scratched. We were heading over to her friend Isabella's house next so I tried to make her laugh by saying "Hey, we'll tell Isabella a LION (growl growl) scratched you." By the time we arrived at Isabellas house the story had become much more grand. Addy said "Addy was attacked by a lion -roar roar."

Silly Summer Fun

Oh Auntie Karen really started something with the Elmo's! Addy constantly wants "Daddy Elmo" to come with us on outings, flights, boat rides etc. When we were in Florida and Daron went back to Utah a week before us it really got embarrassing. Addy would say "Daddy Elmo do you see that?" and people would look at us. I figured they were thinking that I was a single mother and Daddy Elmo was her fictitious father! Yikes. Anyhow, as long as we know the truth thats all that matters. Ha. Addy helped Mommy paint her wall blue. Addy loves blue so we painted a wall blue and it goes pretty well with the furniture I painted bright pink. If you know me though I am sure it will all change in a few months!

Daron is a GREAT sport wearing the Elmo Daddy Shirt from Auntie Karen. I think we will have every visitor take a photo in the Elmo shirt. :)

Well I am starting to realize why the call the twos the terrible two's. For example, I ask "Addy would you like some yogurt?"
"No I don't WAAAAANt any Yogurt" Addy furrows brow and looks at me like I have two heads.
"Ok" I say and walk away.
"MoMMY ADDY wants Yogurt, Waaaaaaa" Addy yells as if I am denying her food forever.
"Whoa" Mommy says giving her the yogurt and all is well.

Our neighbor lets us gather some vegetables from their garden. I hope beets have a lot of vitamins and good stuff because I have been eating a bunch of them!

Addy and I dressed up in our summer dresses for dinner at my boss Sandy's house. We were WAY overdressed for Kanab but it was still fun. Addy looked so cute with her little purse. She outgrew her sandles though so we had to use some nonmatching shoes in a pinch!

If you have ever wondered what would happen if you gave a two year old an open bottle of baby powder now you know...

Daron got us a "Love Tree" for our wedding anniversary as well as a few other little trees. Addy and Daddy planted one in the back yard. Addy is so helpful!

Fathers Day Adventure! Addy and I created a little book for Daddy that contained maps, reservations and information on the two day adventure we planned for him. We went to Escalante, UT and stayed in a log cabin at Escalante Outfitters. I did learn that a queen size bed is too small for Daddy, Addy and Mommy. We had a great breakfast in their cafe on fathers day. Fresh eggs from the chickens that live on the property. Saturday night we went to an award winning restaurant called Hells Backbone Grill http://www.hellsbackbonegrill.com/ They have been written up in tons of magazines like Sunset and the New York Times Travel Magazine. They grow all the food in their garden and the meat is from local farmers in the area. Daron had an enchilada that had tumbleweeds in it. And he liked it!!! Fresh food makes such a HUGE difference in flavor~ They of course don't use pesticides etc. so Addy played in grass and we had a few ants visit us on our outdoor table. No worries though and it was pretty entertaining for Addyson.

Goat cheese from local farmers, dried apples and apricots from the area and
black pepper crackers. Yummy. The feral cat that hangs out on the porch appreciated the full flavor of the goat cheese too!

Daron and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary on June 18th. We celebrated at the Rocking V Restaurant in Kanab. It is tradition. We have celebrated every anniversary there.

The conservative town must have gotten to me. I now have a swim suit with a skirt! Yikes.


I made homemade Ranch dressing tonight to go with our local buffalo steak and salad.
•1 tsp. vinegar
•1 tsp. garlic salt
•½ tsp. salt
•1 tsp. fresh pepper
•1 tsp. lemon juice
•1 cup Greek yogurt
•½ tsp. mayonnaise
•1 tsp. fresh parsley
•2 tbsp. grated Parmesan
•1 tsp. water
•½ tsp. lemon zest
•½ tsp. Dijon mustard

It turned out pretty good and if you like garlic in your Ranch then I would suggest grating some fresh garlic in as well. I have been trying to buy local meat and vegetables and boy it sure makes a huge difference in taste. We finally got a gourmet store here and I bought organic pasta, Greek olives (yum), Havarti cheese (many of the cheeses are made by a guy in Seattle) and fresh tomatoes. This combination made a wonderful pasta lunch. Daron even enjoyed it. It is amazing how much flavor a local home grown tomato has.

Addy and I were walking the other day and we saw a huge tow truck towing an old RV. A family of four got out and I told Addy that their "bus" as she calls it had an owee. Later that evening she asked me about it and I told her we would walk by and check on it. 6:30 rolls around and I forgot all about it. She of course did not. "Can we check on the bus with the owee?" Wow. So she got in the baby jogger with DAddy Elmo (of course) and checked on the bus. Well the RV had the family in it making thier dinner. I thought for a split second about knocking because she was SO concerned about this darn RV I mean "bus". Anyhow, I convinced her it was feeling better and doing good and we headed home.
