Thank goodness for really warm weather. Addy enjoyed a long Presidents' Day weekend and handing out with her Bestie.  

Katrin and Rachel watched Addy and the dogs over night so Daron and I could have a getaway in Zion National Park.  Kat and Rachel kept Addy really busy including going to the best friends adoption event  in town where she ran into our friend Emily. 

My mom got to hand out with her brother Tom who was in Florida for work.

Middle Age & Concerts

?  Daron and I are going to see Blue October in June.  I feel like we are finally letting go a tiny bit of our helicopter parenting (hovering). Don't quote me yet because we haven't yet attended the Vegas concert. It's in June. So I bought tickets online to lock us into going.  They were $27.  A few days later I thought where are our seats?  Why didn't they give me options when I ordered?  

So I looked at the venue.  General admission. Standing room only.  How long is this concert going to be?  I started to panic!  I have to stand for 4 hours?  My back is going to be killing me.  Can they smoke at the venue?  Flashbacks of college bars with smoke billowing and my hair reeking of cigarettes all night and when I got home....   For $47 we could have gotten tickets in the balcony that allowed us "access to the bathroom, bar, outdoor patio..."  Um Hello?  I am a 46 year old woman I need access to the bathroom and if I don't want to be standing alone all night Daron needs a patio to go outside and smoke.  Then I showed Daron we decided if I couldn't upgrade our tickets it is imperative to buy a new set.  "Do they have snacks?  Are they gluten and egg free?" Daron joked. " Can I bring my bottled water?" What if they have a laser show and blinking lights that trigger a migraine? 

The place holds 3,000 people.   Our town has 3-5,000.   Oh my goodness.  After living in the country for 10 years I don't want to be around crowds.  Going to Target in St George which is 1.5 hours away  is crowd enough!  

Paint your pet party at Best Friends Visitor Center

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday night! I am so blessed to be able to hold my Paint Your Pet Parties at Best Friends Visitor Center in town.  It has been so fun helping people crate painting of hire pets.  It's a cool concept. You modge podge a black and white print of your pet on a canvas and paint over it.  So fun!

Best Friends Christmas Party

While I was parking the car Addy and Daron took a photo with Santa.  When I got their they didn't want to take another photo.  So I asked my friend Laura and Misses Claus to take a photo with me.  So much for a Christmas Card family photo for next year!!!  Oh well!

Uncle Tom and Aunt Dolly in Montana

So happy to know that while I was snow shoeing in southern Utah Tom and Dolly were snowshoeing in Montana!  They had a bit more snow than we did!

25 students hung their artwork in the Healing Art Gallery at the Hospital

My two fall classes created big canvas art for a December art show.  Approximately 200 people came to the reception to see the artwork and artists.  It was so awesome for these kids to get recognition for their efforts.  This was particularly exciting for the kids who don't participate in dance or sports.  They had their night!

Christmas in Argentina

The 2nd grade teachers asked parents to do a short presentation on Christmas on another country.  Since Addys uncle Dan is from Argentina he helped us create a presentation on Christmas traditions in Argentina.  I took props like sun tan lotion and flip flops since Christmas falls during the summer in Argentina. I also took a wallet and necklace that were gifts from uncle Dan from Argentina. They also got a taste of Argentinian sweets.  There were 63 2nd graders.

Christmas Parties

Florida MiMi sent Addy the most amazing Christmas dress to wear to the Best Friends Company Party.  There was easily 400 people at the party.  There were also many kids from Addys classroom and grade at the party.  That's one  benefit of a small town.   She Loves dressing up and looking beautiful!  

The Painting Parties that I am hosting at the Best Friends Visitor Center in town have been gaining momentum.  They are fun and financially rewarding.
